Abstract

With the help of big international datasets, this study creates and tests a multidimensional model for judging global competence. The study looks at information from 400,000 students in 60 countries from the UNESCO GCED (2024), the OECD PISA 2018 and 2022 Global Competence Modules, and the World Bank EdStats (2024). The model uses Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) within a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) framework to find three interconnected dimensions: cognitive, socio-emotional, and behavioral. The factor loadings for these dimensions range from 0.74 to 0.81. The model had good fit scores (CFI = 0.93, TLI = 0.91, RMSEA = 0.047) and was very reliable (Cronbach's α > 0.85). The findings show that the best way to think about global competence is as a multidimensional concept that includes knowledge, empathy, and action.
