Abstract

This research looks into how platform-orchestrated enterprises (POEs) change the way managers are in charge and how value is created in the digital economy. It does this by using secondary data from the OECD (2024), Statista (2025), and reports from Amazon, Alibaba, Apple, and Uber. To look at the link between government centralization, boundary openness, and value capture, a panel regression model was estimated for the years 2015–2025. The results show that boundary openness increases innovation throughput by a lot (β = 0.41, p < 0.05) but lowers the platform’s direct value capture (β = –0.27, p < 0.05). On the other hand, higher governance centralization raises the platform’s revenue share (β = 0.33, p < 0.01) but lowers complementor innovation. This is because algorithmic control intensity mediates these effects and explains 19% of the difference in value asymmetry between companies.
