Clinical and Laboratory Features of Renal Dysfunction in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Comorbid with Ischemic Heart Disease

Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized not only by progressive airflow obstruction but also by systemic inflammation, hypoxemia, endothelial dysfunction, and multiorgan damage. When ischemic heart disease (IHD) coexists with COPD, hypoxia, hemodynamic stress, and microcirculatory disorders reinforce one another, creating conditions for an early decline in renal function. The objective is to comparatively assess renal functional status and markers of endothelial dysfunction and systemic inflammation across COPD stages II-IV in patients with and without concomitant IHD. This comparative clinical study included 135 patients with stage II-IV COPD.
